Dear Charter Oak Families,
During the 2016-2017 school year, the West Hartford Board of Education directed WHPS to convene a committee to investigate the challenges and benefits of adjusting school start times. In the fall of 2017, the Rethinking School Start Time (RSST) Committee began a one-year study of the issue. For example, the Committee is researching how school start times relate to student sleep, academics, and extracurricular activities/athletics; staff members' professional learning; and transportation and other local services. As part of this process, the Committee is seeking feedback from parents, students, and teachers on how school start times personally affect them and their families.
Please know that the WHPS is continuing to explore this issue and has not made any decisions yet to change the school start times. Because your input is essential to the district, please be as open and honest as possible when taking this survey. All responses to this survey are anonymous and will be kept strictly confidential. The survey will be open until May 15.
Thank you for participating!
Note: There will be a Family Information Night on May 3 at 7pm in the Town Hall Auditorium.
